I don't think I ever received an 'A' in French class—maybe not even a 'B'…but it was still one of my favorite classes in high school. It had less to do with the classroom—which was basically a large closet—and all to do with the woman who taught us…mon amie Gaye Stevick Foutch!
She was recently in St. Louis and we were able to catch up over lunch. I wish I could say we conversed in French…alas, I cannot. She also graciously allowed me to photograph her and include her portrait in my Family & Friends project.
